Three kindergarten children were confirmed dead and 14 others were injured in an arson attack at a kindergarten classroom in central China's Henan Province on Monday (May 8).
The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. Monday in a kindergarten of Shiguan Village in Gongyi City. A 19-year-old villager, named Bai Ningyang, broke into a classroom where 21 children were having classes, locked the door and set fire in the classroom with gasoline, police said.
Two kids, aged 5, died at the scene, and another one died in hospital. Fourteen others, including the teacher, were burned.
All the injured, including some in critical condition, have been sent to local hospitals for emergency treatment. The kindergarten has been closed, according to the police.
The arsonist escaped from the scene and is still at large, the police said.
The cause of the arson is under investigation.
