The remaining Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644AD) is less than 2,500 meters.

The Great Wall will postpone face-lifting. The China Great Wall Society (CGWS) revealed that owing to many experts' opinions that to repair the nicks on the Great Wall would lead to further destruction, the novel face-lifting ideas selected through the proposal solicitation activity will not be adopted for the moment.
The proposal solicitation activity collected nearly 6,000 opinions from varied social organizations and individuals at home and abroad. CGWS summed up the suggestions and presented them to experts in ancient architecture, renovation and cultural relic protection for advice. CGWS assistant secretary general Zhang Ji stated that many experts believe the notches on the Great Wall are so deep that to renovate them according to collected proposals will cause further damage to the Great Wall.
Zhang disclosed that after deliberation, experts decided to suspend the renovation program and reserve the current status of the Great Wall till they find an ideal solution. Editor: Yan
