China urges Japan to treat history objectively
Latest Updated by 2005-03-28 09:39:43

The Japanese government is now in the process of reviewing the new editions of the country's history textbooks.

China says the new textbooks once again twist the facts behind Japan's invasion in the 1930s, going so far as to incredulously claim the Japanese invasion was China's fault.

China has also demanded Japan squarely and objectively deals with the facts and truth when describing its invasion of China.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao says the Chinese government reiterates its call for Japan to be accountable for its historical actions. And also to respect China's demand for justice in the matter.

He also says China expects Japan to honor its promises and deal honestly and appropriately with the highly sensitive issue.

Meanwhile, the South Korean government says it plans to raise the history textbook matter during future international conferences.
