Senior Egyptian police sources told the British Sky TV on Tuesday that the Dahab triple bombings on Monday evening were linked to the new audio tape reportedly from Osama bin Laden.

The bombings in the Red Sea resort of Dahab in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula killed at least 23 people and injured some 87 others.

The attack came one day after bin Laden's new tape was aired by the pan-Arab al-Jazeera TV channel.

Sky TV cited Egyptian police sources as saying that the deadly attacks might be linked to the latest statements by bin Laden who said the West was waging a war against Islam.

The report revealed no further details.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry said that three foreigners were among those dead, including a young German boy.

The triple explosions took place almost simultaneously at around 7:00 p.m. local time (1700 GMT) in Dahab, some 85 km north of Sharm el-Sheikh, another popular Red Sea resort in Sinai. No one or group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombings.

The bombings were the second such attack in Sinai in less than one year.

On July 23, 2005, Sharm el-Sheikh was hit by three bomb explosions, leaving at least 60 people dead and more than 200 others wounded.
