The recent cold spell has shown us all that winter has come. It's that time of year to put away your summer clothes and get cozy with woolens. As with the arrival of other seasons, winter brings excitement too; from the smell of fresh dew, coffee, barbecues, bonfires and of course the sight and feel of new winter wear in all its bright colors and fuzzy textures.
There are some sweater trends this year. The trends range from hooded wear to fleece jackets etc. Here is a list of some great sweaters that are sure to keep you warm while being in style. Trend setters should remember to wear what you feel looks good on you.
Try a dark sweater worn alone over a skirt or a trouser preferably white, khaki or beige.
Multicolor sweaters are back, so get yours before the season is over.
Turtle necks in burgundy, black, white, chocolate etc worn under a big-checked flannel or wool shirt over a long skirt or a pair of jeans looks really hip.
Zipper sweaters that resemble a jacket can be matched with almost anything.
Fleece sweat shirts paired with a contrasting head gear, a woolen cap or silk scarf sets the mood for cozy evenings.
The above-mentioned is just the basic principle of wearing sweaters. However, there is no point if one dresses year after year in the same old look, so this winter it is time to experiment. The new look ranges from the contemporary look to the retro look. There is however a very bold look this season, which is perhaps inspired by the color of the snow-white season.
The cozy look
There is strong emphasis on similar shades for the entire look. Under this look, come warm fluffy woolens. It just gets yourself feeling cuddly all over, even if you gain some weight in winter, you will not have to worry about exposing your shape, as the loose style just fits the needs of comfort while emitting a sense of fashionable relaxation. By a similar look, we mean for instance wearing a denim skirt paired with a blue sweater and blue eye shadow.
The brighter look
Try variations in sweaters with white shade like a combo of black and white or red or blue and even striped trousers, as the winter never lacks the elements of cold colors such as grey and black. Instead, dramatic hues like yellow, orange and rose are always darlings to light up the season. Another focus to match with here is on eye-catching shades, whether its a fluorescent shade or bright reds, pinks, oranges, peach etc. Pair these with dark-colored trousers, jeans or a skirt.
The retro look
An Old School look sounds nostalgic enough. Yes, we are talking about those cute pleated skirts that you wore during school days. Conservative but funky, that's the mantra. Flannel or wool skirts with pleats paired with a thickly embroidered sweater or a cardigan with a scarf will not only make you look refreshingly different but will also make you look younger by many years. Colors to go for are black, grey dark, beige, abd Scottish checks.
Retro-1980s yuppie chic has popped up in all forms. This fall, we're seeing it materialize in argyle sweaters. Once reserved for polo-loving preppies, now anyone can enjoy this look. This season's sweater collections take this trend to the extreme and the argyle cashmere sweater in baby pink and light green will look great with a denim skirt or jeans. The allover argyle sweater is perfect for early fall, when days can be warm. Made of cotton with short sleeves, this kind of sweater lets you make a seamless transition between seasons, which also lends an air of cute schoolgirl.
