On March 27 the final 6 designs of Guangzhou Asian Games Village Design Contest were released for public appraisal. The intended Asian Games Village will be located at the foot of Lianhua Mountain and by the Lianhua watercourse in the east of Guangzhou New City and will cover an area of approximately 2.73 square km.  It will be composed of the Athletes' Village, a Media Village and the Sports Park which, combined, will provide a comfortable and safe living environment for the athletes, officials and correspondents from various countries and regions participating in 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. The Asian Games Village is to start construction officially in December 2007 and will be completed by the end of 2009. It will be put on the market as a high grade residential community after the Asian Games.
