Looking for his third consecutive Dunlop Phoenix championship, Tiger Woods birdied the final hole Friday to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the 1.7 million U.S. dollar tournament in Japan.
Woods began the second day of play two shots off the pace, but a chip-in eagle at the par-5 helped elevate him to the top of the leader board.
Woods took only 65 strokes on the way to posting an 8-under-par 132 at the halfway point of the tourney. Padraig Harrington carded a 66 and is a stroke back, while Ian Poulter continued his recent hot stretch with a 64 to move within two shots of the lead.
First-round leader Shingo Katayama managed only a 70 and is three back of Woods.
