Soccer:Roberto Carlos obtains Spanish citizenship

Brazil defender Roberto Carlos obtained Spanish citizenship Tuesday, making him eligible to play for Real Madrid as an EU player.

Roberto Carlos, 32, joined Madrid from Inter Milan in 1996 and has since won both the Champions League and Spanish league three times. He also won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.
