Soccer:Argentine midfielder Zabaleta joins Espanyol

Argentine midfielder Pablo Zabaletahas left local side San Lorenzo for Spanish first division club Espanyol, the Primera Liga club said on Thursday.

Zabaleta has signed a five-year deal with Espanyol with a transfer fee of 3 million US dollars.

The Argentine Under-20 team captain won this year's World Youth Championship with the natinoal side by beating Nigeria 2-1 in the final in the Netherlands.

Espanyol finished fifth last season, qualifying for a place in the UEFA Cup.
