Soccer:Nobody likes these tours, says Roberto Carlos
Latest Updated by 2005-07-14 11:35:30

Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos expressed his dislike to the coming trip of Real Madrid covering the United States and Asia, though he admitted that this is of importance to his club.

The Brazilian soccer star said through local radio that his compatriot teammate Robinho, who's regarded the possible best player of the world in the future by Carlos, might complete his transfer to Real recently.

"Robinho will be the number one of the world in the short-run and will be wearing the Real Madrid uniform. I am convinced he will triumph here," he said.

Roberto Carlos said he understood the situation of the Brazilian star who wants to join Real at all costs.

"People want to understand that in Brazil things are not that well, there are no jobs. There are kidnappings and crime. Robinho himself has already suffered from this when his mother was held hostage."

As for his teammates Portuguese international Luis Figo's possible departure from Real, Carlos said "more patience is needed".

"With patience, the problem with Figo would have been sorted out. If he leaves Real he could do so with dignity and not through the backdoor," Roberto Carlos said.

Roberto Carlos thought in next season Real has to do well "step by step" and not to talk about "winning all competitions," while in his opinion the biggest winner for next season will be the defending champions Barcelona.
