Brazilian international Robinho said Monday to a press conference that he wants to leave Santos, in spite of the intention of the leaders of the club, who want to keep him until the Germany 2006 World Cup.
According to unofficial information, Real Madrid bid 25 million US dollars for the player, but it was rejected by Santos President Marcelo Teixeira.
The leader, though, promised Robinho last year that he would be negotiated with a European team following the international games of the club, which was eliminated two weeks ago from Libertadores Cup.
"In this moment I don't feel like continuing to play in Brazil. I expect the president honors his promise. I want to leave Brazil and I believe this is the right time," said Robinho.
To the player, the most important revelation of Brazil in recent years, the fans of Santos will understand his departure.
"Fans are intelligent and understand I have the right to go to Real, the best club of the world," said he.
Robinho thretened, in case the negotiation fails, is to remain in the Brazilian club until the end of his contract in 2008, when he would be free to negotiate his transfer to a foreign club.
"Regardless of the president not meeting his word, I will complete my contract until 2008 with Santos. The thing is I did not want to leave through the back door without giving any benefit to the club," said the player.
