Long rumored to have been in the works since the series concluded in 2004, the movie version of the popular U.S. series "Sex and the City" is finally being penned by Michael Patrick King, the original's screenwriter, director and executive producer, according to a recent statement by show cast member Mario Cantone.
"I know the script is being written and I know it will be brilliant because Michael Patrick King is writing it," Cantone, who played Charlotte’s wedding planner Anthony in the series, said.
Cantone confirmed that he will also star in the movie.
The series, aired by HBO, was created by Darren Star based on Candace Bushnell's novel of the same title and revolved around the lives of four female best friends in New York City. Over the course of its six seasons, it scored over 50 Emmy Awards nominations and won seven Golden Globes.
