Shine with every sunbeam
Latest Updated by 2003-05-09 16:10:30

It's May, finally. When salty sea breezes and bright sunlight have come to stay, girls are enticed to put on everything that's shiny, funny and sexy.

Designers never fail to catch the wind. Drawing inspirations from Asian traditions and European vogue back in the 1950s, they mix bright colors, dreamy soft materials with elaborate and embellished details to create the most elegant and feminine collections.

The comeback of the 1950s is certainly angled towards la dolce vita rather than the sock hop, as you can imagine the sizzle of silk dresses mixed with the tinkle of champagne glasses.

But the difference is manifest. Acid bright colors like green and yellow give an unprecedented vitality to the elegant Louis Vuitton fitting silk dress that features a lovely crescent collar and bowknot at the front.

All-covering diamond-shaped lace decorations challenge the sexy edge of the black Fendi voile backless dress, while the same black voile scarf, draping back from the neck, adds elegance. The black striped golden paillette satchel with silver flower deco adds a perfect finishing touch.

Layers of skirts in a beige suede dress give it the sweet innocence fit for a debut, in contrast to the sexy skintight top showing the shoulders and attractive breast shadows. An innovative surprise: the top layer of the skirts, fastened at the waist to form an elegant trail, can also be pulled up across one shoulder to give the Roman goddess look.

Imperial red is a hit this season as people let their enthusiasm run wild with everything linked to Oriental countries. A Christian Dior red evening dress wraps you up in a complicated work of traditional Chinese knots.

A lingerie style red silk strap shirt has the most flirtatious appeal, with ripples in the front and frills at the edge. Going with it are long, green suede pants as leisurely and eye-catching as the top.

A black camisole and slim white long pants are symbolic of the dazzling energy of youth. A white voile scarf printed in shades of purple gives you the wings of a butterfly needed to dance in the wind.

A light yellow silk dress with a long voile blouse adorned with embroideries makes you wonder if the garments are made of sunlight itself. How can they feel so light and bright?
