With the Spring Festival around the corner, many people are busy entertaining their friends and colleagues. Even some middle school students are copying the trend, treating their friends or schoolmates to a feast.
Is a treat necessary? It's a really difficult question to answer.
In the minds of many Chinese people, a big feast symbolizes wealth and success. The host and the guests not only enjoy themselves in a wonderful feast, but also chat with each other and get to know unfamiliar people. It's a way to relax and to know more about the people around you.
However, every coin has two sides. In my opinion, I don't think having an expensive feast is really worth it, especially for young people, as most of us don't have the ability to earn enough money to support ourselves.
In fact, all parents work hard to provide their children with better lives. Do the teenagers really need to spend their parents' hard-earned money to treat their friends? Is it really worth it?
As everyone knows, there are many people starving to death around the world every year. Why not use this money to help them? If half of us make contributions to help these people, there'll be many more people living better lives. We can give money to local charities and share food with people who are really hungry instead of having a feast ourselves.
On the other hand, if you want to have a big dinner, you can have it at home. That will save a lot of money, and it's also a better way to show your friendship.
As modern people, we should also care about global problems, as some rural areas are still suffering from famine. Therefore, please decide if it is worth it to treat someone before you do so.
