Officials to lecture on campus
Latest Updated by 2005-03-04 14:39:01

Party and government leaders in Guangdong will regularly address college students on current affairs and government policies.

The provincial education department has told colleges and universities in Guangdong to arrange at least one speech a year for a local official. The officials should be leaders of local Party committees, governments or government departments. The speakers should address the development of the province or the cities where the colleges are.

Some provincial officials, including Party secretary Zhang Dejiang and Governor Huang Huahua, addressed students at universities last year.

The education department says the speeches by officials will be an efficient way for college students to learn about the economic and social achievements and let them know and support for the Party and State guidelines and policies.

Provincial-wide training will be given to college teachers in current affair and policy education.
