A FORMER regional sales manager of an automobile company in Shenzhen has spent the last week trying to gain employment as a domestic helper, yesterday's (Feb 6) Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
Han Xiaogang, 26, has been receiving training from Shenzhen Jiajule Home Services Chain Management Co. Ltd, and he hopes the company will be able to find him a suitable position. "I want to be a domestic helper because I like the job. That's it," said Han.
Jiajule manager Chen Jian said Han is currently being assessed by the company to see what kind of assignment will suit him best. "The company is still indecisive in Han's case in terms of an employment contract,"Chen said. "Han has an amazingly impressive resume: regional sales manager, company's training manager, possesses a degree from a top university and a CET 6 certificate (college English test). We are afraid that our clients will have doubts about him. It is not easy for people to understand Han's choice."
However, Han said he is determined to achieve his goal.
Han claims to be very interested in nutrition science. "Actually I want to be a nutritionist or a specialist in daily dieting. But now there is no such good platform to achieve that. I think working as a domestic helper will help me accumulate sufficient experience and it will give me a chance to promote healthy dieting."
Han graduated from University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui Province, with a degree in mass communication in 2003. He quit his job as a university lecturer and worked as a salesman for an automobile manufacturer in Shenzhen. Han was soon promoted to regional sales manager. In 2005, he became a training manager because he needed more time to take care of his wife who is in poor health.
Han ran a barbeque bar after resigning as from his job, and it was then that he became fascinated with food and catering. He spent a lot of time learning about nutrition."Many people's diet is very unhealthy, yet they are not aware of that."
Han said he had contacted many residential communities, hoping to give lectures on diet and nutrition, but his plan didn't work out."I know it is a little far from working as a nutritionist, but I think I can gradually promote healthy dieting to any people I serve."
