[Odd] Pangolin falling from office ceiling?
Latest Updated by 2006-12-08 10:20:20

A 0.7-METER-LONG pangolin which fell from the ceiling of a real-estate agent's office Tuesday  (Dec 6)evening had been sent to the city's wildlife hospital, Thursday's Daily Sunshine reported.

A woman surnamed Chen said she and her husband had picked up the pangolin on an expressway Tuesday. They took the reptile home and put it on the balcony, the Daily Sunshine report said.

Employees of the Zhonglian Real-Estate Agency, located at Chang'an Garden in Futian District, were about to leave the office when the pangolin, weighing about three to four kilograms, fell to the ground at about 10 p.m. Earlier that evening, employees of the agency had heard noises in the ceiling but thought they were mice.

Chen told the policemen who arrived at the agency office Tuesday evening that the pangolin had escaped from her apartment. The pangolin was handed over to staff at the city's wildlife hospital the same evening.

An official there, surnamed Guo, said the pangolin was not hurt judging from its appearance. But he admitted that a further checkup was needed.

Guo said the pangolin would be staying at the Guangdong Wildlife Rescue Center or Shenzhen Safari Park before being moved to the Shenzhen wildlife rescue center when it becomes operational.
