Pregnant woman sues former employer
Latest Updated by 2006-11-03 15:48:14

A 33-year-old woman plans to file a lawsuit against her former employer in Guangzhou, saying she was fired after announcing her pregnancy.

Luo Weitang, director of a Hong Kong-funded company's marketing department, was under a one-year-contract.

She was fired by the company several days after she told her boss she had been pregnant for two months. She is seeking labour arbitration in Guangzhou's Liwan District.

According to Labour Law, employers are not allowed to dismiss pregnant women or women who are breast-feeding their children.
