IN the morning, a Canadian woman can be seen practicing tai chi with many locals on a square near the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center. It seems that she has established a good relationship with the other tai chi practitioners.
The woman is Kathryn Mickle, who came from Canada about half a year ago. Her fascination with Chinese culture brought her here.
Mickle discovered that feng shui can provide some positive elements in modern society. The concept of yin and yang can help people achieve peace and harmony in their minds and family relationships.
Mickle wrote a self-help book entitled "Journey to Mastery: Feng Shui for Life."
Now, Mickle works in a training center called Newstep Institute in Futian District, which was founded by a Chinese-American. With a background in education and psychology, Mickle has designed courses to help people strengthen their public speaking skills.
Although the center has just opened, Mickle, with the help of her colleagues, is doubling her efforts in expanding the business and improving the center's image, drawing, of course, on yin and yang.
