- The fastest growing HIV epidemic is in East Asia, particularly China, Indonesia and Vietnam
- Eastern Europe and Central Asia, particularly Russia and the Ukraine and are also experiencing steep rises, fuelled by a rise in injecting drug users.
- The number of HIV positive women in East Asia has risen by 56% since 2002
- Over 80% of people living with HIV in Europe are under 30
- Sub-Saharan Africa continues to be the worst hit region, with HIV rates as high as 25-30%
