About 1,100 painters working on canvases simultaneously in Dafen Village helped unveil an offshoot venue of the First Shenzhen International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF) on Wednesday (Nov. 17th).
"I have never seen a scene that has moved me so much," said Gorge Chung, a visitor from Hong Kong.
The 1,100 painters, in front of their canvases side by side in two rows, stretched from street to street in the village. The combined length of the streets was 1.1 km.
"I think the event could be included in the Guinness Book of World Records. But I don't know whether they have applied," Chung said.
"When he was working on his Mona Lisa 500 years ago, Da Vinci could never have dreamt that a bronze statue of him would be erected in Dafen Village, which has become famous throughout the world with its oil painting industry," said Li Min, head of the Longgang District Government.
The ICIF from Nov. 18 to 22 has two offshoot venues, one in Dafen Village and the other in Nanshan District, which is hosting the First China Shenzhen (Nanshan) International Children's Art Festival also opening Wednesday.
The opening ceremony of the ICIF will be held at the China Hi-Tech Fair Exhibition Center, the main venue, Thursday morning.
