Shenzhen Art Museum is exhibiting 34 works by Liang Rongming, the first amateur female painter in the fifth of its "Dream of Art" series, until June 3.

Liang is the only one from her small village between Guizhou and Guangxi to have studied at university. She has loved drawing since her childhood but didn't study oil painting until she met an art teacher on a bus after she came to Shenzhen in 2003.

Although Liang is still a beginner at oil painting, according to experts, her diligence in studying the art is well respected.

The "Dream of Art" series, featuring the works of 20 Shenzhen amateur painters, is being held until December at the museum. It aims to unearth talented amateur painters and calligraphers in Shenzhen and give them a chance to realize their "dream of art."
