The second half of the 19th century is dubbed "the golden era of Russian art". During this particular period of time, Russian literature and painting strived to illustrate the everyday life of the general public as realistic and exhaustive as possible in order to reflect the diversity and complexity of people's fates and characters. The show features 118 masterpiece paintings, including portraits, landscape, genre paintings and paintings with historic themes, from more than 20 museums across Russia
