The Guangzhou Acrobatic Troupe was founded in 1957. The troupe has carried on the tradition of Chinese folk acrobatics and at the same time absorbed the cream of other art forms such as dancing, artistic gymnastics, drama and clown acting to form a unique style. Over fifty programs have won various grand prizes. Among them, "Rolling Cups" and "Juggling of Bowls" won Presidential Prize and Prize of the Mayor of Charters at the 5th Festival Mondial Du Cirque respectively. "Kicking Bowls on a High Bike" won the only Golden K Prize at the Monaco International Acrobatic Competition. Other gold-prize winning programs include "Passing Rings on Jumping Net", "Magic", "Ball Skills", "Uncle Clown", and more.

The troupe has toured Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, South Africa, Canada, USA, Peru, etc.
