The listing was based on indexes like residents' living conditions, health, happiness and employment, as well as votes from 700,000 netizens. The research was done only on cities whose GDP was among top 100 Chinese cities.
The research also uncovered the top 10 wishes of the urban Chinese for the next five to 10 years. They are: cheap medicare, full coverage by social security, honesty, free movement, expansion of the middle class, transparent government, thrifty use of natural resources, effective treatment of AIDS, public security and equal education opportunities.
The IUD report is China's first report on quality of urban life. The research started in August this year.
