The light rail track between Guangzhou, capital city of south China's Guangdong Province, and Zhuhai, a city also in Guangdong, will have a length of 140.8 meters with 18 stops.
The construction on the light rail track, which will cost 19.5 billion yuan (about 2.35 billion US dollars), will begin shortly, said information from the city government of Zhuhai.
The inter-city light rail track will consist of a trunk line which will go from Panyu of Guangzhou to Gongbei in Zhuhai, and a feeder road which will start from Xiaolan in Zhongshan City and end at Jiangmen City, both in southern Guangdong. Fourteen stops will be built on the trunk line and four on the feeder road.
Designing of the projected light rail track is done by a number of organizations, including the Designing Institute with the Chinese Ministry of Railways.
The project is expected to be completed and go into traffic in 2008.
