As one of the Four Little Dragons, Zhongshan has been making tremendous progress in industrialization by setting up hundreds of modern enterprises. Apart from that, there are a few townships well popular for their specialized industries, and they produce, on a large scale, thousands of products. Some of them are well known even abroad. For example, Guzhen lies in the northwest of Zhongshan City, and named the International Lamp City. There is a "10-km-long lamp street" with hundreds of lamp shops lined on the both sides. Guzhen produces all sorts of lamps and its products take 46% of the national market in China. It is also one of the four largest lamp markets in the world.

Xiaolan is an important township in Zhongshan, well known for its historic tradition of "Chrysanthemum Convention", which is held every 60 years with lots of celebrations. So Xiaolan is entitled the City of Chrysanthemum. As one of the most booming commodity distribution centers in the Pearl River Delta, Xiaolan turns out some 300 kinds of industrial products, including mainly hard wares, locks, gas stoves and burners, home appliances, beverage, chemicals and packaging products. Xiaolan Township is a very good example of township enterprises.

Shaxi is almost connected with Zhongshan City and popular for its garment production. Shaxi Casual Garment Exhibition City covers an area of 58 000 sq meters and consists of 1 200 shops and 11 000 sq meters of parking lot, extending a cordial invitation to businessmen to pay a visit. Shaxi International Casual Garment Fair is held here every two years, attracting a lot of visitors from both home and abroad.

Dacong is one of the largest productive bases of padouk furniture in South China. There are over 300 factories of furniture making, renowned far and wide for the high quality, elegant design and economic price.
