A Brief Survey to the Ecological Industrial Parks

As an important step in implementing the strategy of "promoting economic development by industry" put forward by CPC Qingyuan Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government, the Ecological Industry Parks are established to speed up economic development, urbanization and modernization of Qingyuan. It is a multi-level, multi-function, diversified investment media, with industrial development taking the lead, and the development of tourism, service trade, and "three highs" agricultural projects encouraged. The Parks covers a total area of 110 square kilometers, with up to 30 square kilometers available for industrial and commercial development. The parks are under the administration of Qingyuan Experimental Economic Zone (QEEDZ), and are an extension of QEEDZ. The rationally laid-out functional Parks, dotting like pearls in the greenery of forests, effectively protect the ecological environment on the one hand and promote industrial development on the other, keeping the original ecological landscape in unique harmony with modern industries.

Geographically the Parks are advantageously located where there is an easy access to land and water transportation: Qingyuan Raiway Station is in the northern part and Qingyuan Port is in the southern part of QEEDZ, the 107th National Highway goes through the parks from north to south. The central part is only 48 kilometers to Guangzhou and 20-minutes' drive to Huadu International Airport now under construction. Efficient modern digital telecommunication facilities and network have been built up and put in use now.

The Ecological Industrial Parks have already reached a satisfactory scale. Different functional industrial prks have been or are being developed, such as Yili Industrial Zone, Ceramics Industrial Zone, Bio-pharmaceutical Industrial Park, Taixing Industrial Park, Taihe Industrial Park, Kingboard Industrial Park. Many enterprises have settled down and started production and business, among which are Apotex Bio-pharm (China) Inc., Huamei Sanitary Ware Co. Ltd., Transnational Footware Co. Ltd., Supreme Plastic Product Co. Ltd., Fogang Kingboard Industrial Limited., Haoliang (Qingyuan) Artificial Flagstone Products Co. Ltd.

A package of preferential policies in relation to land price, taxes, water and power supply are being enacted in the parks. No administrative and institutional fees except taxes shall be levied on enterprises therein, and investors shall be provided with quality integrated investment services.
