Latest Updated by 2004-10-22 11:10:44

Officials from the World Bank paid a visit to Jiangmen to inspect the city's application for bank loans.

Jiangmen is applying for 670 million RMB in loans from the World Bank in an effort to enhance its environmental improvement project. The whole project will cost over 1.2 billion RMB. The project will consist of 4 parts. They include the construction of a sewage treatment factory and a solid waste site, the clean up of the Tiansha river and the implementation of a drainage pipe system.

After inspection, the officials from the World Bank said the project meets the requirements for loans and they will require further discussion about the loan application. Jiangmen vice mayor Lu Peide promised to use the loans properly and complete the project with great care and quality.
