On March 20, 2007, the Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (GAGOC) held the 16th Asian Games Mascot Solicitation Press Conference and released the Solicitation and Selection Scheme for the Mascot, which symbolized the official launch of the solicitation and selection process.

GAGOC will organize an Evaluation Committee composed of experts from a variety of fields. The Committee is responsible for assessing all the entries. The final result will be announced in July 2007. The Participant (individual or organization) whose mascot is approved and designated as the Official Mascot will be awarded a financial prize of RMB 200,000. The Participants (individuals or organizations) whose mascots are among the top 10 designs of the final selection will be awarded a financial prize of RMB 10,000 each.

The entry should fully reflect the Guangzhou Asian Games theme of "Thrilling Games¡ê?Harmonious Asia", represent the Olympic Spirit, and embody the profound cultural heritage of China and the unique cultural charm of Lingnan (South part of China) region. And the entry must be original, i.e., never previously published in any form.
