The resident temporary emergency aid regulation has been carried out in Shunde district of Guangdong province, since August 1st, and this is the first local measure dedicated to helping the poverty-stricken people to deal with an emergency.
Experts say it is a very good supplement to the government welfare services for low-income people. According to the regulation, if residents in Shunde fall into financial difficulty caused by sudden serious diseases, natural disasters or other unpredictable incidents, they can apply for emergency subsidy from the government. Those who suffer from critical disease can apply for the subsidy only once a year with a limit of 50,000 yuan. Those who suffer from other factors can apply for the subsidy multiple times a year with an overall limit of 8,000 yuan.
