Dongguan municipal government announced today (Nov 21) that the city will compete for the title of "national environment protection paragon city" next year.
The title of the "national paragon cities of environment protection" is a "gold brand" for the city that creates good living environment for people and good environment for investment. Source says that among the 32 environmental indexes in the assessment for the honor. Dongguan has passed 25 of them.
To win the honor, Dongguan will attach great attention to industrial pollution control and water environment improvement. The city will also improve environment-protection-related infrastructure, strengthen environmental protection capability, step up environmental monitoring and forecast system, and improve environment-related law making.
To date, six cities of Guangdong, Guangzhou Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Huizhou, and Zhaoqing, had been awarded this highest title for environmental protection efforts in China.
