Guangzhou is the political, economic, technological, educational and cultural center of the province. Located in middle of Guangdong and the north of the Pearl River Delta, the provincial capital city is also the transportation and communication hub and trade port of southern China, the south gate of China as it is at bank of South China Sea and adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao.

Guangzhou covers a total area of 7,434 square kilometers, of which the urban area is of 1,443 square kilometers. Consisting of ten districts under Guangzhou municipal jurisdiction, including Yuexiu, Haizhu, Liwan, Tianhe, Baiyun, Huang pu, Huadu, Panyu, Luogang, Nansha as well as Conghua and Zencheng counties. Geological Location
Guangzhou belonged to subtropical area and crossing the Tropic of Cancer, enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, mild and abundant in rainfall. So the city owns green woods, beautiful flowers and eye-attracting scenery in four seasons, and is known as the "Flower City". Colorful Kapok is its city flower.

History and Culture
The picturesque Guangzhou is also a historical and cultural city in China, retaining its distant antiquity and containing a profound cultural heritage and rich cultural connotations. According to a legend, five immortals rode five sheep with millet sprays in their mouth descending to Guangzhou. The immortals presented the stalks of grain to people for their wish of harvest to them. Since then, Guangzhou is also called "Sheep City" or "Stalks City". The statue of Five Sheep has become the city's symbol.


According to historical records, Guangzhou has come into being since 214 BC, with a history of more than 2,200 years. Used to be the capital city of South Yue, South Han and south Ming dynasties, it is the starting place of China ancient maritime "Silk Road" and the enduring foreign trade city.     The Plant was the fifth such plant built as part of the city's "Expansion Eastward" spatial development strategy. It was built to collect the waste water discharged from Guangzhou Science City, Shen Stream, Zhujiang Stream, Wu Stream and Miaotou Stream of a basin area of 107 square kilometers. Upon completion in 2010, the project will be able to serve a population of 860,000 with a daily treatment capacity of 45-50 tons. The first stage of the project was started in 2004 with a proposed daily treatment capacity of 20 tons, using improved A2/O technology. Currently, the major construction has been finished and the external collecting system is being streamlined. When the treatment system is put into operation, it will greatly reduce the pollutants discharged to the tributaries of the Huangpu District and the Pearl River, relieving the Guangzhou section of the Pearl River and its tributaries of water contamination and consequently reduce harmful impact on the city's water supply. Meanwhile, the project will greatly improve the environment in Tianhe and Huangpu districts.

    Located in the southernmost tip of the Nansha Development Zone and at the West Bank of the Pearl River estuary, it covers an area of 2,200 hectares.
