On May 12,1993,the State Council of the People's Republic of China issued its approval of establishing the Guangzhou Nansha Economic and technological Development Zone (Nansha ETDZ). Since then, Nansha has joint the ranks of China's state-level development zones by shaking off it's former self as a way-off border town.

Nansha is located in the Southeastern part of Province, on the west bank of the Tiger-mouth Watercourse near the estuary of the Pearl River. It boasts macao, and geographically, for its being the heart of the Pearl River Delta area and the hub of transportation. After scores of year's development, the infrastructure facilities have taken shape in Nansha Development Zone with a benign environment for investment.

On July 23,1996, the State Council of the People's Republic of China approved Nansha Development Zone as Class-A open port in China, and on November 20,1997, the State Government approved Nansha to be a national pilot base for industrialization of high technology, while in the same year, Nansha was listed to the ranks of"China's Top 50 Development Zones with excellent Environments for Investment" Owing to its unique natural endowments, superior natural conditions and unrivalled investment environment, it has attracted many Chinese and foreign investors to launch companies here.

Up to recently, 206 foreign-invested companies have been launched in Nansha by investors from 18 countries and regions around the world, including the major multinational companies like the American General Electric and Germany BASF. Nansha is now playing an increasingly important role as a pivotal point to boost the economic development in the Pearl River Delta area.
