Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju called for a better environment to promote highly skilled talent and to learn from the experiences of outstanding workers.
Huang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, congratulated outstanding work units and the top ten highly skilled workers on behalf of the Central Committee and the State Council at an awards ceremony Tuesday.
Huang urged governments at all levels to improve policies that will create a favorable environment for highly skilled professionals and lead the whole society to respect work, respect knowledge, respect talent and respect creation.
All workers should learn from the honored workers and sharpen their skills to achieve great results, Huang said.
Hua Jianmin, Chinese state councilor and secretary general of the State Council, said that highly skilled personnel are outstanding representatives of various industries and the backbone of the technical workers.
It is of vital importance that China boost its technical talent to promote industry upgrading, innovation capabilities of enterprises and the core competitiveness of China, Hua said.
China started to award outstanding skilled workers in 1995. This year, more than 300 workers have been awarded for their outstanding skills.
