BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. said Tuesday that it will resume full oil production totaling 450, 000 barrels a day by the end of October.
BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. spokesman Daren Beaudo told Xinhua that the company may bring back about 150,000 barrels of oil a day of the 200,000 barrels shut off last month by the weekend.
"We hope it could increase to around 400,000 barrels a day over the next week," he said.
The remaining daily output of 50,000 barrels is still slated to return after BP obtains permission from the U.S. government, said Beaudo.
The London-based oil giant said last week that the U.S. government has given it permission to bring back about 150,000 barrels daily from its Prudhoe Bay field in northern Alaska.
BP shut down 200,000 of its 450,000 barrel-per-day Prudhoe Bay field early August when it found severe corrosion in pipeline.
