The 2nd China Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Fair & Sino-France SME Fair opens today in the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center (Pazhou complex of Canton Fair).
The fair attracts the central government's attention. Premier Wen Jiabao sent a congratulatory message and wished the fair to grow into a platform for SMEs from home and abroad to seek cross-regional cooperation. Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan sent a congratulatory letter to wish the fair a great success.
Zhang Dejiang, Secretary of Guangdong Provincial CPC committee, announced the opening of the Fair.
Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua delivered a speech, saying this fair helped for the Chinese and French SMEs to build up their reputations, tap market potential for their products and learn more about the policies related to SMEs.
Huang said the fair will also help SMEs to enhance their innovative power.
More than 3500 SMEs from the Chinese mainland and HK and Macao SARs, and 160 from France took up over 5000 booths provided by the Fair.
The exhibitors are mainly from 9 sectors, including electronics and information technology, automobile and motorcycle components, shoes and leathers, daily chemical, textile and garments, household appliances, food and beverage and pharmaceuticals industry .
The fair is jointly sponsored by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for People's Government of Guangdong Province, as well as the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry.
