Although the trade activities between Jiangxi Province and Macao are still quite limited by now, a great potential of trade cooperation between the two regions has emerged since the implementation of CEPA and launching of PPRD (Pan-Pearl River Delta) regional economic cooperation.
I. Trade between Jiangxi and Macao
According to statistics of the customs, the total foreign trade value between Jiangxi and Macao in 2001, 2002 and 2003 are respectively 0.6 million USD, 1.06 million USD and 1.87 million USD. In 2003, 0.8 million USD of garments and 0.3 million USD of cotton cloth are exported from Jiangxi to Macao; while 0.24 million USD of ferrous waste and scrap and 0.09 million USD of garments are exported from Macao to Jiangxi.
II. Investment of Macao in Jiangxi
Up to April 2004, altogether 56 enterprises from Macao invest in Jiangxi Province, accounting for 1.6% of the total number of foreign-invested enterprises in the province, with a contracted volume up to 8.6 million USD, 1.2% of the total and an actual investment of 7.698 million USD, 1.5% of the total.
