As midsummer arrives, a soft, sweet fragrance fills the air at Bailiandong Park (白莲洞公园) in Zhuhai, where a remarkable grove of century-old frangipani trees is now in full bloom.

This grove dates back to the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1875-1908), when villagers from Guancun Community planted large numbers of frangipani trees here. Thanks to generations of dedicated care, the site is now home to a treasured collection of 69 ancient trees, each approximately 132 years old.

Today, it is regarded as the largest and best-preserved ancient frangipani grove in Zhuhai and even across Guangdong Province. The grove is listed as a protected site for ancient trees by the People's Government of Xiangzhou District, and each tree bears a unique identification plaque.

In winter, after shedding their leaves, the trees reveal their twisting, antler-like branches, creating a striking landscape of their own.
