Meet Bengal tiger quintuplets at Chimelong, Guangzhou

Starting from today (April 8), the Bengal tiger quintuplets at the Chimelong Safari Park, Guangzhou, will meet the public!

The Bengal tiger "Vivi" who lives in Chimelong gave birth to the quintuplets on February 7, 2022. Quintuplets are relatively rare among primiparous tigers, while the general number of primiparous tigers is 2 to 3. When the five Bengal tigers were born, the largest weighed 1,300 grams and the smallest three weighed only about 1,000 grams each.

In order to protect the three light-weight Bengal tigers, Chimelong's conservation team artificially bred the cubs and placed the three cubs in three incubators for care. They are cared for 24 hours by two experienced nurses. The conservation team conducts a physical examination on the cubs every three days to record their growth indicators.

Today, the three cubs see their weight increase to a normal level and have now left the incubators and started to get processed meat.
