China Southern increases overseas routes to meet outbound travel demand

On February 6, a travel group of more than 20 passengers took the flight CZ3081 to Bangkok, Thailand at T2 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

This was China Southern Airlines’ first outbound travel group departing from Guangzhou in 3 years since the pandemic.

According to the Airlines’ authorities, it will resume and open 48 round-trip routes to 12 destination countries.

This announcement came after a pilot program rolled out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to revive the country's outbound group travel services.

Starting from February 6, travel agencies and online tourism service providers in China are  permitted to provide group tours of 20 countries, including Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Russia and Cuba. Relevant airline ticket and hotel booking services are  resumed as well.

Currently, China Southern Airlines, together with travel agencies, launched the first package tour to New Zealand, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Kenya, the Maldives, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and other destinations.

As of February 6, the Airlines are operating 50 international and regional routes with 82 flights (round trip included) per week.  

According to Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, it will promote the market development of key outbound destinations in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, and Oceania and speed up the flight resumption from Guangzhou to Addis Ababa (capital of Ethiopia), Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Colombo, and Dhaka (capital of Bangladesh).
