According to the statistics released by the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, there were more than 500,000 inbound tourists at the various local ports from January 21 to January 27.

If you're planning to travel by train, here's your guide:

Step 1: Buy the train ticket on the 12306 website or APP

The Shenzhen Futian-Hong Kong West Kowloon section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link restarted operation on January 15.

Travellers should buy a ticket at least 30 minutes before departure. If the train departs from Hong Kong West Kowloon station, it should be at least 45 minutes in advance. The two time limits also apply to ticket changing and refunding.

Step 2: Health declaration on the WeChat mini-program "China Customs"

Outbound passengers should declare their heath status 24 hours before departure on the WeChat mini-program "China Customs" and take a screenshot.

Passengers who use ID cards like the People's Republic of China Resident ID Card, Hong Kong and Macao Residence Permit, Taiwan Residence Permit, Foreigners' Permanent Residence Permit, Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, or Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents, can complete the real-name verification and ticket inspection procedures for entering and leaving the station through the self-service channel.

Those who use other documents need to go through a staffed channel.
