The Golden Kaiserihind (Teinopalpus aureus) is a species of butterfly in the family Papilionidae, and mainly inhabits sub-primitive forests at an altitude of about 1,000 meters in the subtropical or tropical regions. Typically, the body of this butterfly is about 30 mm long, and its wings are about 110 mm long. With bright color, the graceful butterfly is dubbed the " butterfly queen ".

As the only butterfly in China's first-class national protected wild animal, the Golden Kaiserihind ranks first among the eight most valuable butterflies in the world. It’s rare in the wild because it can only breed twice a year.

According to the experts, the Golden Kaiserihind is distributed in southern China, but there are only proven records in a few provinces such as Guangdong, Jiangxi, Fujian, and Zhejiang. In recent years, Guangdong has been continuously improving the environment of Nanling National Forest Park, thus this butterfly and other rare animals and plants are found more frequently than before.
