2025 GBA Science Forum to run across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao from December 6-8

The 2025 Greater Bay Area Science Forum will take place from December 6–8 across Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, bringing together leading scientists, industry heads, and policymakers for three days of high-level discussions on frontier technologies and emerging industries, according to a press conference on November 26.

The opening ceremony and main forum will be held on December 7 at the Nansha International Convention and Exhibition Center in Guangzhou. The main forum will feature a Turing Award laureate, leading academicians from China and abroad, and senior executives from major technology companies for keynote speeches. Additional sub-forums and special events will be held in Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Yangjiang, and Huizhou.

Discussions will center on how cutting-edge science can support the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) as an international innovation hub and address global challenges, with sessions covering next-generation AI, new materials, brain-computer interfaces, and brain-inspired intelligence.

Additional sub-forums will focus on green energy transitions, carbon neutrality, marine science, upgrading traditional manufacturing, embodied intelligence and low-altitude economy applications, and talent development, including events for young students and forums on women in science. Finance-tech integration, industry-education collaboration, and digital health will feature in dedicated panels aimed at accelerating a modern industrial system in the region.

The forum will again host a matchmaking conference between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Guangdong province to connect scientific innovations with industry needs.

Now in its fourth edition, the forum has drawn significant attention from the scientific community. More than 50 leading scientists have confirmed their attendance, including 39 academicians from China's top science and engineering institutions and 16 fellows from overseas research bodies.
