September 17 marks the one year anniversary of the inauguration of the administrative organizations of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. During the past 12 months, progress has been made in the Zone. Here are the highlights:

One year on, Guangdong and Macao further integrate through Hengqin Cooperation Zone

On September 5, 2021, China issued a general plan for building a Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Later, the administrative organizations inaugurated. In the past 12 months, the Cooperation Zone has facilitated the integrated development of Hengqin and Macao, with 682 new Macao-funded enterprises and the total number of those enterprises has exceeded 5,000.

Hengqin's new management mode for Guangdong-Macao cooperation is unprecedented: Lei Wai Nong

"For a long time, when Hengqin and Macao talked about each other, we said it was your issue. But now we say OUR issue. The new management mode is unprecedented," said Lei Wai Nong, Director of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, when sharing his feeling about his work in Hengqin over the past 12 months during an interview on September 13.

"The management mode of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation zone is unprecedented. We face new challenges every day. I have learned a lot over the past year," said Nie Xinping, director of the Hengqin Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and deputy director of the Executive Committee of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, when accepting an interview with Nanfang Daily and GD Today on September 13.

GBA Close-up | Macao youths gain new chances in the new home in Hengqin

During the past year, GDToday launched the "New Home New Chances" special report in the "GBA Close-up" column. The special report focused on four Macao youths working in Hengqin, including social worker Frankie Chan, lawyer Vong Keng Hei, TCM entrepreneur Huang Yin, and Hi-tech CEO Ho Kuok Tou, and recorded their daily life and work in Hengqin.
