As one of the vital parts of the high-speed railway network in Guangdong province, Guangzhou-Shanwei high-speed railway starts from Xintang Station in Guangzhou, passes through Huizhou and Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone before terminating at Shanwei Station.
There are a total of 8 stations, among which 2 are in Zengcheng district, that is, Xintang Station and Zengcheng South Railway Station.
Guangzhou-Shanwei high-speed railway is expected to open to traffic in 2023. By then, the traveling time from Guangzhou to Shanwei will be reduced from the current 2 hours to just about 40 minutes.
In the meantime, it will be connected with Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway and other railways in the coastal regions, further improving the railway network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and elevating Zengcheng district as the eastern hub of Guangzhou.
