Guangdong's bonded zones record 15.5% foreign trade growth in first three quarters of 2025

In the first three quarters of 2025, the total imports and exports of Guangdong's comprehensive bonded zones (CBZs) reached 708.674 billion yuan, marking a year-on-year increase of 15.5% and contributing 1.4 percentage points to the province's overall foreign trade growth. Exports totaled 342.924 billion yuan, up 24.2%, while imports amounted to 365.75 billion yuan, an increase of 8.4%.

During China's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), Guangdong added two new CBZs, bringing the total to 13, ranking third nationwide. In 2024, their total import and export value reached 863.618 billion yuan, up 165.1% from 2020. Their share of Guangdong's total foreign trade rose from 4.6% to 9.5%, and is expected to further increase to 10% this year.

In the 2024 national CBZ development assessment, Qianhai CBZ in Shenzhen and Nansha CBZ in Guangzhou were rated Class A, with Qianhai entering the top three nationwide for the first time.

Guangdong's CBZs benefit from their proximity to Hong Kong and Macao, as well as major airports and ports. Bonded logistics has become a major business model, attracting numerous supply chain enterprises with annual import and export values exceeding 10 billion yuan, and forming distribution hubs for electronic components, biomedicine, and artworks. In the first three quarters, bonded logistics trade within the zones totaled 579.995 billion yuan, up 12.5%, accounting for 8.3% of Guangdong's foreign trade and contributing 25.3% to its growth.

At the same time, new industries such as cross-border e-commerce and financial leasing are rapidly expanding. The cross-border e-commerce volume in Guangdong's CBZs reached 42.795 billion yuan in 2024, up 68.8% from 2020. The Nansha CBZ has ranked first nationwide in online bonded shopping business among all CBZs for six consecutive years.
