That's according to a report released by the  China Chain Store & Franchise Association (CCFA) on June 14.

Walmart ranks fifth on the list, with a sales growth of 13.3%. Other retail firms like Rainbow (天虹数科), Meiyijia (美宜佳), Dashenlin (大参林), Qiandama (钱大妈), Lotus (广州易初莲花), and Tianfu (广东天福) achieved a double-digit growth in 2021.

The retail chain retained a strong expansion momentum. For instance, the number of Dashenlin stores increased by 36.1% year-on-year, and those of Meiyijia and Qiandama were up by 16.9% and 16.6% respectively.

Despite the impact of COVID-19, 68 out of China's top 100 chain firms gained year-on-year sales growth, 21 more than that in 2020.

In 2021, the retail revenue of the top 100 chain sellers reached 2.3 trillion RMB. And that of the online sales totaled 470 billion RMB.

According to the survey, over 90% retailers project that the online sales will achieve further growth in the future, and nearly 60% of them believe that the online sales revenue will grow by over 10% in 2022.

Statistics from the Ministry of Commerce show that China had become the world's largest online retail market for nine consecutive years in 2021, with online retail sales hitting 13.1 trillion RMB.
