Chaoshan Railway Station in Guangdong Province is set to significantly boost capacity during the upcoming May Day holiday travel rush, adding 133 overnight trains to accommodate the anticipated surge in passenger flows.

The holiday travel period runs from April 29 to May 6, totaling eight days. Chaoshan Railway Station expects to handle 600,000 passenger arrivals and departures, averaging 75,000 per day, roughly the same as last year. The peak arrival day is forecast for May 1, while May 5 will see the highest number of departures as travelers return.

To meet demand based on China Railway's 12306 booking data and travel patterns, railway authorities have increased train deployments on popular routes to and from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Fuzhou (Fujian Province), and Xiamen (Fujian Province). Over 300 trains will operate daily between 6:00 a.m. and midnight. Overnight services (midnight to 6:00 a.m.) will run on May 1, 2, 5, and 6, totaling 133 trains. Notably, 37 overnight trains are scheduled for the early morning of May 1 alone, setting a new single-day record for overnight departures at Chaoshan Railway Station.
To ensure smooth travel, the station has strengthened coordination with local transportation authorities in Chaozhou City to share real-time passenger data and optimize bus connections. Security check channels will be dynamically adjusted based on passenger flow to improve efficiency.

Travel Advisory: With heavy crowds expected, passengers are advised to plan, allow ample time for local transport and security checks, and avoid arriving at the last minute. For assistance, please visit the "Heartwarming Chaoshan (馨动潮汕)" service counter at the station.
