According to a document published by Guangdong’s Provincial Development and Reform Commission, a new railway between Meizhou and Longchuan, a county in Heyuan will be built by the end of 2021.

When in operation passengers will need just 1.5 hours to reach Meizhou from Guangzhou South Railway Station.

The document stated that Meixian District (Meizhou), Xingning (Meizhou), Wuhua (Meizhou) and Longchuan (Heyuan) will be connected through this new route.

At present, people in Guangzhou can take highspeed railway to Meizhou via Shenzhen and Zhuhai. The journey time is 3 hours 25 minutes from Meizhou to Guangzhou and 2 hours 52 minutes to Shenzhen, according to Nanfang Daily.

High speed railway fares will increase from December

According to Guangzhou Today Publish (@今日广州发布), fares on the Guangzhou-Chaoshan, Guangzhou-Meizhou, Guangzhou-Xiamen and Guangzhou-Nanning will all increase from December 1st.
